3rd TERM COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT SIGNED BETWEEN TÜMTİS AND UPS
The negotiations between TÜMTİS representing 1800 members and international delivery company UPS has ended with the signing of the 3rd term collective bargaining agreement.
TÜMTİS signed a collective bargaining agreement with UPS in 2010 after a successful organizing campaign. The agreement was a great success since it was the first agreement to be signed with an international delivery company operating in Turkey. Now UPS is the only delivery company in Turkey that provides employment security and implements 8-hour work day.
The 3rd term agreement brought another significant improvement for the delivery sector; Saturday was accepted as an off-day. This is a great success in a sector where flexible working is common and employers are pushing to make Sunday a working day. The provision will be effective starting from 15 March 2017.
THE AGREEMENT WAS SIGNED WITH THE APPROVAL OF OUR MEMBERS
Our union has conducted the CBA negotiations with its members. After the opinion polls made in every region; the 3rd term agreement was signed with the approval of the majority of our members.
In the 3rd term agreement signed between TÜMTİS and UPS on the date of 01.02.2017; workers’ remunerations has increased by 12 to 18 percent. Despite the arguments of the employer on being the only unionized cargo company in Turkey; existing rights of our members weren’t compromised and improvements were made regarding economic, social and administrative provisions.
WE CALL ON TRANSPORT WORKERS TO UNITE IN OUR UNION!
With our success at UPS and the signing of this agreement; our union has proved that disregard of law, low standards, precarious work and 12-14 hour shifts don’t have to be the norm in transport and delivery companies.
We call on all delivery and transport workers to follow the steps of UPS, DHL and Aras Kargo workers and become TÜMTİS members.
