The organising campaign that we started more than two years ago in DHL Express and our resistance for a year and a half resulted by signing of a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) where we achieved significant gains as a result of a determined and patient struggle.
The statement of our Central Board of Directors dated 25.01.2019 is as follows;
OUR STRUGGLE AT DHL EXPRESS RESULTED WITH THE SIGNING OF CBA
The organising campaign that we started more than two years ago in DHL Express and our resistance for a year and a half resulted by signing of a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) where we achieved significant gains as a result of a determined and patient struggle.
Significant gains were achieved in wages and social rights with the CBA signed between our union and DHL Express on 23.01.2019.
With the CBA signed the wages and social rights of trade union workers increased by 21% in the first year and by 17% in the second year. In addition, four time bonuses for 15 days and meals, transport, marriages, births, holidays and fuel allowances were received.
In addition to the severance and notice indemnities, 7 employees receive compensation who were dismissed.
With the CBA signed, without the decision of the Disciplinary Board, the dismissal of workers was prevented.
The collective bargaining agreement at DHL Express was signed with the consent of all of our members, including the workers who continued their resistance in front of the workplace.
556 DAYS DURING RESISTANCE
International Delivery Company DHL Express filed an appeal after TUMTIS received a majority document from the Ministry of Labour on 2017. During this period the company fired 9 TUMTIS members. Our dismissed members started a resistance on 17 July 2017 in front of the workplace. The 556-day picket line echoed in the country and abroad, and mobilized siblings and international unions.
While the resistance in front of the workplace continued, our union won the majority determination case and then the CBA negotiations started.
UNITED STRUGGLE WON
In addition to our decisive struggle, class solidarity in the international dimension has played an important role in the success of our struggle for organization. The process at DHL Express has once again shown us the importance of stable, united struggle and solidarity and has been instructive in this respect.
Our union has informed the international trade unions, mainly the ITF (International Transport Workers’ Federation) and the ETF (European Transport Workers’ Federation), and explained the importance of solidarity in every platform. TUMTIS called unions for solidarity by making calls to TÜRK-İŞ and other confederations. DİSK, KESK presidents, Executive Board members of our trade unions affiliated to TÜRK-İŞ, branch presidents and managers, visited the picket line and participated in public press releases. On 8 June 2018, concurrent actions were organized in more than 20 countries with the call of our top organizations ITF and ETF.
IMPORTANT TO ALL CARGO WORKERS
After 556 days of resistance and hard struggle, CBA was signed in DHL Express. As a result of the CBA gains, DHL Express is the beginning of a new era for its workers, and it has been an important gain for all cargo workers.
In this process, our members who are engaged around our union, in the heat of summer and in the cold of winter, especially our members; We would like to thank our top organizations TÜRK-İŞ, ITF and ETF for their brotherly unions, labour and professional organizations, democratic mass organizations and the press workers who support our resistance without separating the confederation.
We call upon all cargo, logistics and transportation workers to support the struggle for organization and to unite in our union.
We respect the knowledge of the public.
